Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about how CurrencyIQ processes data, generates AI forecasts, and stays 100% free.
General & Pricing
Yes. We firmly believe that basic financial data and modern AI forecasting tools should not be locked behind a $20/month paywall. We support the site infrastructure through unobtrusive advertising, community donations, and by allowing power-users to "Bring Your Own Key" for the AI implementation.
Our rates are primarily sourced via the Frankfurter API, which tracks the official reference rates published by the European Central Bank (ECB). These rates are updated every working day around 16:00 CET. While highly accurate for reference, they are not "tick-by-tick" live trading prices used on brokerage platforms.
You don't! The core currency converter and historical charts are totally available without an account. However, creating a free account allows you to save your "Favorite Pairs" across devices and unlock the Gemini AI forecasting tool by securely storing your API key preference.
AI Forecasting & Gemini API
We pull the previous 30 days of exchange rate data and feed that specific JSON array directly into the Google Gemini language model. We instruct the AI to act as a technical analyst, reviewing start/end values, volatility spikes, and general momentum, and then output a synthesized, human-readable summary.
If you choose to use the "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) system to generate unlimited forecasts, your API key is never transmitted to our servers or databases. It is encrypted and saved securely in your browser's local storage mechanism (`localStorage`). When an AI request is made, your browser contacts Google's servers directly.
No. Our tool is strictly for educational and informational tracking. The AI calculates macro 30-day trends, not micro-second arbitrage opportunities. Additionally, our data comes from central bank reference rates, which differ slightly from the highly leveraged prices you see on MT4 or other trading platforms. Please read our Financial Disclaimer.
